Understanding Job Requirements
Employers hire recruitment consultants for a variety of reasons. Lack of time or resources, or difficulty in closing a job vacancy calls for the services of a recruitment consultant. When contacted these consultants first understand in detail the job role, related requirements, and any additional requirements of the employer. They also develop a good understanding of their client and their company, the industry, and the employment market within it. This may either be done on the phone or through a personal meet. Once done, they proceed to fill in the vacancy.
Advertising the Job Vacancy and Sourcing Candidates
Once they get the required details from the employer, recruiters proceed to advertise the job vacancy on various job portals. Since they have an in-depth knowledge in the field, they know how to create a compelling job post. After applications are received, they start shortlisting potential candidate CVs based on the educational, experience, and other requirements as asked for by the employer. The process may include telephonic conversation with potential candidates. Once the resumes are shortlisted, they are forwarded to the employer.
Setting up Interviews and Following Up
Setting up candidate interviews with the client/employer is also a part of their duties. After the client approves the shortlisted resumes, recruitment consultants proceed to set up interviews. They communicate the date, time, and venue to the candidates, coordinate with them, and follow up with them after the interview. Once the decision is made, recruiters communicate the same to the candidates. Negotiating salary structure and finalizing the arrangements between the parties are part of the process.
